Lena Philipsson, one of Sweden's most successful artists, takes on her first leading role in a drama series in the Viaplay Original 'På gatan där jag bor'. Philipsson has had an impressive 13 albums in the country's top 20 since her debut in 1984, and represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004. 'På gatan där jag bor', inspired by her hit single of the same name, was created and written by Viaplay Studios Mikael Newihl (Viaplay Original 'Max Anger', nominated for Best European Drama at the Festival de la Fiction TV 2021 in La Rochelle).
In the six-episode series, Lena Philipsson plays Nina, who starts a new relationship four years after her husband's death. Nina's decision leads to dramatic and unexpected reactions, both from family and neighbors. 'På gatan där jag bor' begins filming this fall and will premiere exclusively on Viaplay in 2023.
Lena Philipsson: "It will be incredibly exciting to step into this world together with Viaplay. Above all, I liked the tone of the series and what it tells. For me, it's about not being afraid of change and daring to let go even if it hurts. Really a series I would watch myself.”
Filippa Wallestam, Viaplay Group Chief Content Officer: “A song is an unusual basis for a scripted series, but Lena's incredibly popular single from 2005 combines excitement, affection and longing. With a talented team behind the camera and a highly charismatic star in front, 'På gatan där jag bor' will hit the right notes for Viaplay viewers in Sweden and internationally. We are particularly proud that Viaplay is handling every part of this series – all the way from script and production to global sales.”
'På gatan där jag bor' (English title: 'The Street Where I Live') is directed by Lena Koppel ('How many lingonberries are there in the world?') and produced by Cecilia Norman Mardell, with Helena Larand as executive producer for Viaplay . Global sales are handled by Viaplay Content Distribution.
